Welcome!
Welcome to my blog: A Working Wardrobe.
I especially want to shout-out my longtime instagram followers: Welcome, thank you, and I hope you enjoy this new journey.
If you’ve found this blog via instagram, you know that I have had an active instagram account for over three years.
However, I resisted starting a formal blog for quite some time, despite repeated requests. “I am a lawyer, not a blogger” I told myself. When people would describe me as a blogger, I would correct them and say “No, I am not” and list all the reasons why I was not a blogger.
It was a weird hang-up.
I thought that publicly indulging in and enjoying superficial things, like fashion and beauty, diminished the years of work I had dedicated to my education. I fell victim to the outdated trope that smart women cannot be interested in fashion and I felt that I had to hide this side of my personality or at least do it anonymously.
I also, candidly speaking, suffered from impostor syndrome. I did not think that I could bring anything particularly interesting or novel to the blogosphere. I thought “there are prettier, more fashionable, thinner, taller women than me who can do this better.” Additionally, my desire for perfection kept me from taking the first steps.
But I decided that it’s time I stop making excuses and do the things I want to do, and it can be as simple as starting a blog. The recent passing of a popular blogger that I admired from afar for years further emboldened me to start now.
I created A Working Wardrobe because I am always working on creating a wardrobe that works for my life. Too often fashion is impractical and not realistic. While we all like to indulge in a bit of fantasy and whimsy, at some point you realize that it does not translate into the real world.
I hope while here you will find practical and fashionable outfits that transition season to season and year to year. I believe every woman needs and deserves a working wardrobe that works just as hard as she does.
